LJI Phase 2 Open

Dear campus and community stations,

The Community Radio Fund of Canada (CRFC) has just opened applications for the second phase of the Local Journalism Initiative (LJI). This program, which is funded by the government of Canada, will fund the hiring of a journalist to create local news content for stations located in underserved communities.

We are currently funding 22 stations in the first phase and we will soon see the launch of the national distribution platform featuring all of the journalistic content created by the CRFC’s LJI reporters at Canada-Info.ca.

We encourage all eligible stations to apply. More information can be found in the guidelines which can be accessed here.

The successful applicants for the second phase of the program will receive up to $30,000 per station to hire a journalist for a six month period from September 1st, 2020 to February 28th, 2021.

Applications can be submitted via the CRFC’s SM Apply site until June 23rd, 2020.

Please contact us if you have any other questions, we will be pleased to assist you.

Thank you for your hard work during these unprecedented times!
